Brazing Fluxes: Understanding Types Of Fluxes & Their Properties

Metallurgically, flux is a chemical cleaning agent that saves the metal from oxidation during the brazing process. Primarily composed of salt mixtures which, in the molten state, are capable of dissolving metal oxides, brazing flux covers the area being brazed and keeps away the oxygen. Preventing oxidation helps achieving stronger and smoother joints. It also dissolves the surface oxides and prevents re- oxidation.

There are different types of cleaning fluxes, namely - Organic, inorganic, rosin & no clean fluxes. Each of the different types of have varying properties. To learn about what are these fluxes composed of, where they should be used, and what are their respective properties, read the complete article.
