Unique Uses Of Brazed Joints In Everyday Life

Brazing process & has found heavy applications in a number of industries. Various types of braze joints are used in almost every industry for developing tools and machinery maintenance equipments. Apart from the tool making industry, AC manufacturing, refrigerator manufacturing, motive power engineering and plant construction industries also use brazed joints for a lot of uses and applications. But apart from these regular industry uses, there are some uncommon applications for brazed joints that are closer to the everyday man's life. Lets have a look at these interesting applications:

Cooking Pots

The utensils industry also uses brazed joints in a few productions. For example an everyday cooking pot that is made of stainless steel. The base of the pot is made of aluminium is brazed in order to be able to provide leak proof, clean and smooth joint that allows faster and uniform heating. The major constituents of the brazing alloys are aluminium and silicon with a minor share of iron. Copper, manganese, magnesium, zinc and titanium too.

Spectacle Frames

Another very commonly seen brazing product is our spectacle frames. Yes the tiny thing that rests or your nose and ears for clear and better vision uses brazed joints in its frame. Made of stainless steel it undergoes the induction brazing process. Silver is the majority constituting alloy in the spectacle frames, copper and tin sharing the remaining 40 percent - 30 percent and ten percent share respectively.

Brackets/ Braces

The next usage is that in the dental braces that are put in side the mouth to pull back or just correct the structure and placement of the teeth. Brackets or the braces contain aluminium oxide, stainless steel brazed connection, which is made by furnace brazing. Silver and titanium with a few other metals are used for the brazed bracket production.

Ice Cream Scoops

The cutest use of a thing as boring as brazed joints is in ice cream scoops. Ice cream scoops are made of stainless steel and brass. Brazing is used for these scoop manufacturing because brazing gives smoother, cleaner and stronger joints when juxtaposed with other processes. The main constituents of the alloy are silver, copper, zinc and tin.

Pots With Spouts

Last but not the least are the pots with spouts. Often used for a number of purposes like pouring water, random beverages etc, it is also used for many of the worshiping rituals in India. The spout which is separately produced is then brazed to the pot by flame brazing. Silver, copper and tin are the main alloys.
