Development in the shoe manufacturing has also passed through the stages before reaching at the product what we wear today. Human civilization developed in colonies and so does the shoes. Earlier there were no shoe making machines for their production but the cobblers used to make these with their hands. As the demand was low so the needs were fulfilled with hand making process. But after the Revolutionary War, the trading of material and more production of shoes started. Merchant capitalists used to purchase leather from the American market, hired the craftsmen for making shoes. With this there were shoemaker and craftsmen. Shoemakers were specialized in making one kind of shoe whereas craftsmen were specialized in one process of making shoe.
The work with hand became insufficient after 1850 when the demand exceeded the supply. With mechanization and industrialization new shoe manufacturing machines came into existence. The merchants now consolidating various processes at one place and engaged in supervision.
The age of first shoe is about 8000 to 7000 BCE in Oregon, USA. The earlier shoes were very simple and made from leather. Their main purpose was protection from rocks. Physical anthropologist Erik Trinkaus has found the evidences showing the that the origin or the shoes is about 40,000 and 26,000 years ago.
After this came the sewn shoes with sole and by the 17th century most of the shoes were with sole. Further with the more types of raw material like leather, plastic, synthetic cloth etc many kinds and styles of shoes came into market. If we look at today's scenario then shoes come with accessories apart from their basic structure to beautify it. These accessories are shoehorn, shoe tree, shoe insert, shoelaces, shoe bag and many more.
Also there are varied kinds of shoe like man's, women's, unisex, athletic, orthopedic, dance and work. With so much variety there are same type of development in shoe making machines.
