Vacuum packing is a technique of preserving food items and offering them for sale. To hinder the development of microorganisms in food, it is stored in airless environment such as a air tight pack or bottle. It is considered best for food products because it removes atmospheric oxygen and protects the food from spoiling. The growth of aerobic bacteria or fungi is prevented hence the food remains fresh. Vacuum packed food packed food lasts longer and has an extended life of up to 3-5 times. Fresh food items like vegetables, meats and liquids such as soups do not have much durability because vacuum packing does not prevents bacteria from entering into water. With the use of inert gas kit, vacuum packaging can be successfully done on fragile food items like potato chips. Nitrogen which is a type of inert gas is added to the packed food after removing air, which prevents the food from getting damaged and keeps it fresh.
