The use of chemical reactors in pharmaceutical industry is very prominent. These are the vessels that contain chemical reactions. Various types of chemical reactors are discussed below :
Continuous Stirred- Tank Reactor (CSTR)
Another name for CSTR is vat- or backmix reactor and is regraded as most ideal reactor. CSTR is a model which measures the key unit operation variables with the help of a tank reactor which stirres the chemicals to arrive at a stated output.
Plug Flow Reactor (PFR)
Plug flow reactors are also called Continuous Tubular Reactors (CTSs) To explain the chemical reactions in regular and flowing systems, use of a plus flow reactor model is adopted. It is used to figure out the response of chemical reactors, so that a rough estimate of the variables of reactor, like its dimensions can be done.
Semi Batch Reactor
Semi-batch reactor works with both continuous and batch inputs and outputs. A fermenter is filled with a batch which continuously generates carbon dioxide, which is to be eliminated regularly side by side. A prolonged feed of gas is inserted into batch of liquid because reaction of gas with liquid is difficult.
Catalytic Reactor
Catalytic reactors are put into action as plug flow reactors and their analysis demands more elaborate treatment. The rate of such reaction is equivalent to the amount of catalyst the reagents contact. An example of a catalytic reactor is the catalytic converter following an engine.
