Providing sturdy and durable transport chairs for patients is the aim of every hospital, so that maximum comfort can be provided to the patients. If transport chairs are uncomfortable and in damaged condition, administers of the hospitals or clinics should recognize the need of changing it. But before changing the hospital transport chair, it is important to keep few things in mind. Here is a list of guidelines that can be considered before selecting a transport chair :
- Durability is the major feature which every transport chair must possess. Apart from being durable, it must have strong capability of holding maximum weight. Standard wheelchairs can hold 250 pounds whereas staxi transport chairs can manage 500 pounds of weight, which means, it can carry heavy medical equipment along with the patient.
- Apart from footrests, all parts of the chair should be fixed and not removable. Footrest facilitate patients to stand up, pedal or collapse to fit into the chair. Some transport chairs have removable armrests so that the chair can be placed under table. The major problem that might occur with removable parts is that they might get misplaced or lost. Staxi transport chairs do not have such types of removable parts.
- It is important for a hospital transport chair to be space saving. Usually these chairs are large and occupy lot of space but staxi chairs utilize less amount of space.
- Transport chair is to be pushed by attendants or hospital staff, so it must be easy to push. Some wheelchairs have large wheels for patients to push themselves. Their low built allows the patients to paddle their feet also, if desired.
