Pumps are basic necessity but there are certain important points which must be kept in mind while purchasing any kind of pump for industrial, commercial or residential applications. Features and specifications of pumps differ and it is not at all necessary that all types of pumps posses same features. Purchasing a pump depends on the requirement, so select a pump as per the need but make sure that it includes all necessary features.

Some specifications common to all pumps are :-

Speed – Speed of the pump is adjustable and can be slowed down or increased by the operator.

Accelerated by belt – The handle is belt driven.

Non-stop duty – Pump works continuously, and can perform with maintained high speed.

Defiant to decay – The corrosion resistant material(stainless steel body) of which pump is made up of prevents it from deterioration.

Basic Tips For Buying Irrigation Pumps

An irrigation pump is the basic necessity when you want to water a section of land. There are so many types of pumps available but few tips should be remembered before purchasing an irrigation pump. Follow these basic tips if you are selecting a pump for a new irrigation system.
  • Selection of the done according to your needs, turbine, jet pump, end-suction centrifugal, submersible, etc.
  • It is important to calculate your pressure (feet of head) and flow (GPM) requirements.
  • A bit of research on the type of pump is an important task to be done.
  • Now create a first draft irrigation design. It should be designed for the pressure and flow the pump will produce.
  • After having a first draft of your irrigation, it will be easier for you to fine tune your pump selection on the basis of that design. At this stage of pump selection you would be in a perfect position to determine  whether a different pump better fit your irrigation system design or reduce your irrigation costs. If it is so you need to re-evaluate your pump selection and make your final decision.
  • It would be nice if you give a re-look to your irrigation design at this stage. If it can be fine tuned to better match your final pump selection, do this.
