Skating Terminologies

There are certain exclusive terms used in skateboarding. Check out a couple of such terms here:

Transition Plate – Transition plate is a steel plate which is fitted beneath the skate element to make a smooth and easy transition between the base and the riding surface.



Resting/Roll out Decks – Roll out decks or resting decks are the elements which mark either the beginning or the termination of skating.




Performance Decks – Performance decks are the flat areas present within the skatepark for smooth gliding for skaters without the use of guardrails.




Bank – Bank is a skating element characterized with a slope. It is mainly used for increasing the speed and performing tricks.




Hip – Its the joint junction of two different skate elements like quarter pipe, banks etc. It is used for transferring tricks from one element to another.
