Embroidery hoops and scroll frames

Embroidery work is considered to be the best form of art because it enhances the beauty of any fabric. But it is important to remember that while working embroidery, the piece of fabric on which embroidery is to be worked should be tight, so that the needle passes through the fabric smoothly. Embroidery hoop is a kind of tool which serves the purpose of keeping the fabric taut. 

It consists of a number of concentric rings and usually a metal screw kind of tightening device is attached to the larger ring. They are available in various sizes but generally smaller ones are preferred because they fit in one hand easily and the other hand is left free. Scroll frames keep the whole fabric tight and not just the small piece on which embroidery is to be worked. It appears like a frame with four pieces of wood, two rollers for top and bottom, and two side pieces. It is adjustable and used in needlepoint & other form of canvas work.
