Burn Recovery Bed Types

Burn recovery bed is unlike a normal hospital bed and is designed specially for patients suffering from excessive and severe skin burns over large area of their body. Extensive stress on the part of the skin which is damaged can be very painful for the patient, so a burn bed allocates the weight of the body evenly so that the bed and the body contact point does not lays pressure on the damaged skin. Major burn recovery beds are described below :

Air Chamber Burn Bed

An air chamber bed also distributes the weight of the patient with the help of series of interlinked inflatable air chambers. These air chambers appear like a upside-down egg carton. To make the bed stable, the air volume in the air chambers may be adjusted.

Deep Flotation Burn Bed

The construction of this bed is similar to any typical water bed except the outer area or the cover of the water pool possessing huge slack and added folds of material around the boundary of the pool. To increase the density of water, many hundred pounds of salt may be added to it, so that the depth of immersion gets a limit.
