Corrugated Board

Corrugated board, also known as corrugated fiber board which is made up of crinkled corrugated sheet and single or double flat liner boards. Corrugated board is generally used for making shipping containers and corrugated boxes. for packaging of certain items. The corrugated medium and liner board are made up of a paper like material known as container board which is ten mils (0.010 inch, or 0.25 mm) thick. Many times paperboard and corrugated fiber board are also called cardboard but in a true sense, cardboard is made up of a comparatively heavy paper-pulp.

Recycling

Corrugated boards can be compressed or bundled to facilitate easy transportation. The bundled boxes of board are placed in a hydro pulper(a large vessel filled with warm water) for cleaning and processing. The slurry(pulp) thus formed is utilized for making fresh paper or fiber items. Obsolete corrugated containers yield excellent fiber and hence are regarded as an excellent medium for recycling. Those countries which do not have sustainable wood resources can build up a paper and packaging industry locally with corrugated fiberboard.
