Interesting Facts About The Five Italian Herbs

Found in the kitchens of Italy the set of five herbs are quite popular with the name of five Italian herbs. They are used by Italians in their meals and have subtle health benefits that help in maintaining good health. Celebrity chef and the award winning author Maria Liberati, shares some interesting facts about the five Italian herbs and how are they beneficial for our health and well being.

The five basic Italian herbs being referred to, again and again are basil, fennel, oregano, rosemary & sage.
Talking about all of these one by one we start with basil. Maria elaborated that basil originates in India and apart from the folklore associated with a basil plant, it is a great remedy for cough, cold and indigestion. It clears stomach cramps and cures constipation. Basil tea is specially popular herbal tea.
Fennel, the next herb in the list is again an Indian herb by origin and has been associated with flattery & heroism in certain societies of Rome. It is very useful in stimulating a healthy appetite, improve digestion abilities and is an important part of the weight loss diet chart.

Oregano is said to be found in the Mediterranean first, created by Aphrodite – the Goddess. It is said to be extremely capable at curing problems like cough, indigestion, teeth related problems, etc. Used as a seasoning spice oregano is laden with multiple properties to fight inflammation, septic and infections caused due to bacteria and viruses.
Next comes rosemary with a lot of superstitions attached to it. Rosemary extract and rosemary powders are sold in a variety of packages like breathable BOPP films so that it keeps fresh and is sold in the market. It has often been used to keep off evil spirits and illnesses.
Last but not the least Maria talks of sage. A herb often used as a cure for sore throats. All these herbs and spices and their health benefits are a boon for those who can manage them in their daily meals. They have subtle beneficial impacts that go a long way in preventing everyday problems.
